Johannesburg – Vilnius

We meet at OR Tambo and check in for our flight to Lithuania.

Upon arrival in Vilnius, we collect our luggage and meet our guide who will stay with us throughout the tour.

After check-in at the hotel, we have the rest of the day at leisure to rest and explore on our own.

Tonight, we enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Dag 3: 1 September 2020


We enjoy breakfast before exploring the city of Vilnius on foot.

Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania and the second largest city in the Baltic States. It is classified as a Gamma global city and is known for the architecture in its Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. During our city tour, we will see some of the city’s main sights such as the Geimino Tower, the Gates ofDawn and the Peter & Paul Church.

Our local guide will also take us through the Old Jewish District. Before World War II, Vilnius was one of the largest Jewish centres in Europe. Its Jewish influence has led to it being described as the

“Jerusalem of Lithuania” and Napoleon named it “the Jerusalem of the North” when he passed through in 1812.

In the afternoon, we are at leisure to explore the city some more by ourselves.

Tonight, we enjoy dinner in a local restaurant.

Dag 4: 2 September 2020

Vilnius – Trakai – Kaunas

After breakfast we say farewell to Vilnius and travel towards Kaunas; the second-largest city in Lithuania.

On the way there, we stop in Trakai where we will visit Trakai Castle, a 14th-century island castle located on an island in Lake Galvé.

We continue to Kaunas and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before embarking on our half-day walking tour. At the confluence of the Neris and Nemunas rivers, Kaunas Castle is a medieval fortress housing a historical exhibition. To the east, the old town is home to the Kaunas Cathedral Basilica, with its ornate interior and the Gothic spires of the Hanseatic House of Perkūnas. Laisvės Alėja, a pedestrianised street lined with trees and cafes, crosses the city from west to east.

The remainder of the day is free at leisure.

Dag 5: 3 September 2020

Kaunas – Siauliai – Riga

We enjoy breakfast at leisure and have the morning to explore Kaunas on our own.

In the afternoon, we travel to Siauliai where we will visit the Hill of Crosses; a pilgrimage site that will leave a big impression on us. The precise origin of the practice of leaving crosses on the hill is uncertain, but it is believed that the first crosses were placed after the 1831 uprising. The exact number of crosses are also unknown, but estimates put it at about 100 000.

We leave Lithuania behind us and enter Latvia as we make our way to Riga.

Dinner will be enjoyed at the hotel tonight.

Dag 6: 4 September 2020


After breakfast, we enjoy a full day guided tour of Riga.

Riga, Latvia’s capital, is set on the Baltic Sea at the mouth of the River Daugava. It is considered a cultural centre and is home to many museums and concert halls. The city is also known for its wooden buildings, art nouveau architecture and medieval Old Town. The pedestrian-only Old Town has many shops and restaurants and is home to busy Livu Square, with bars and nightclubs.

During our tour we will see the embankment of the Daugava River, take a walk through the Jugendstil district and the Old Town. We will visit the Latvian Ethnographic open-air museum; the museum displays 118 historic buildings from all Latvian regions, and it will give us some background on the history of Latvia. We end our day with dinner in a local restaurant.

Dag 7: 5 September 2020

Riga – Bauska – Riga

After breakfast, we travel to Bauska where we will visit Rundale Palace. The palace is one of the two major baroque palaces built for the Dukes of Courland and is one of Latvia’s most outstandingmonuments of Baroque and Rococo art.

The remainder of the day is at leisure.

We return to Riga and enjoy dinner at a local Restaurant.

Dag 8: 6 September 2020

Riga – Soomaa – Parnu

We depart after breakfast and enter Estonia as we make our way to the Soomaa National Park.

The Soomaa National Park is well known for its wetlands. Soomaa means “lands of bogs”. Today, we will have the opportunity to explore the park with bog shoes (depending on the time of the year).

After our visit to the park, we continue on to Parnu and check in at our hotel. We have time to freshen up before enjoying dinner in the hotel.

Dag 9: 7 September 2020

Parnu – Tallinn

Our morning is at leisure before we depart for Tallinn.

Tallinn, Estonia’s capital on the Baltic Sea is the country’s cultural hub. It retains its walled, cobblestonedOld Town, home to cafes and shops, as well as Kiek in de Kök, a 15th-century defensive tower. Its Gothic Town Hall, built in the 13th-century and with a 64m-high tower, sits in historic Tallinn’s mainsquare. St. Nicholas Church is a 13th-century landmark exhibiting ecclesiastical art.

We enjoy a half-day tour and see some of the city’s main sights such as the orthodox Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the St. Mary’s Cathedral and we will visit the Toompea Castle building.

We enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Today we have the day at leisure.

Dag 11: 9 September 2020

Tallinn – Helsinki

After breakfast, we are transferred to the port in Tallinn from where we board a ferry to cross the Baltic Sea to Helsinki.

We are met by our local guide when we arrive at the port of Helsinki and we are transferred to our hotel. Although Helsinki is a Nordic country, it is often referred to as “The Daughter of the Baltic”, and should definitely not be missed.

The rest of the day is at leisure.

Dag 12: 10 September 2020


We enjoy breakfast before embarking on our half-day tour of Helsinki, Finland’s southern capital.

Helsinki sits on a peninsula in the Gulf of Finland. Its central avenue, Mannerheimintie, is flanked by institutions including the National Museum, tracing Finnish history from the Stone Age to the present. Also, on Mannerheimintie are the imposing Parliament House and Kiasma, a contemporary art museum. The ornate redbrick Uspenski Cathedral overlooks a harbour.

During the tour of the Finnish capital, you will admire the major sights such as the Rock Church, the Senate Square surrounded by the Lutheran Cathedral of Helsinki, the Senate, the University and Library of Helsinki, the Sibelius monument, the Olympic stadium, and the new Opera House.
The afternoon is at leisure.

Tonight, we enjoy our farewell dinner in the hotel.
